Join Us for Worship

We gather every Sunday morning at 10:30 am in the sanctuary. (Or you may worship with us online.) Afterward, come to the parish hall for coffee and fellowship.

Trinity Episcopal Church is a lively, intergenerational, joyful congregation. We are a eucharistically-based community of neighbors and families celebrating different understandings of the Christian faith within the Episcopal Church.

Now more than 100 years old, Trinity was established as an African American mission church. It played a leading role in civil rights and social justice in a city scarred by the massive resistance to school integration in the late 1950s, and by the “urban renewal” that virtually destroyed the middle-class African American business and housing community (including the original site of Trinity) in the early 1960s. At that time, Trinity's membership intentionally sought to embrace reconciliation by reaching out to our white partners in civil rights work to create a multicultural church. More recently, Trinity's Bread & Roses ministry and White Feather Historical & Educational Project have worked to address local manifestations of structural and institutional racism.

We invite you to learn more about our history and our ministries. We look forward to welcoming you to Trinity Episcopal Church.

Our Rector's Sabbatical

From May 1 until Sept. 1, Pastor Cass Bailey will enjoy a season of sabbatical. During his absence, Trinity will welcome a series of guest preachers to our pulpit, from within our congregation and from the Charlottesville community.

In the Bailey family's beloved Hawaii, the word "Aloha" is both a farewell and a greeting. On Sunday, May 28, we will say "Aloha" to Pastor Cass as he begins his sabbatical. On Sunday, Sept. 1, we will say "Aloha" once again to welcome his return.

We invite you to join us for both of this parish-wide celebrations. And we hope to see you every Sunday in between.
