Serve the Church
Ministries of Reconciliation
From flowers to fellowship, a worship service relies on the contributions of dozens of parishioners every Sunday. Some volunteer every week, but most serve once a month or so. We’ll help you find a role, and a schedule, that works for you.
Altar Guild
The Altar Guild is an essential and sacred ministry, responsible for setting the table for the Holy Eucharist. The Altar Guild also cares for the items that grace the altar – candles, linens, chalices, bread plates – before and after services. Setting the table before a service (which may include changing the hangings) takes about one hour. Clearing the altar after a service takes about 30 minutes.
Eucharistic Ministers
A eucharistic minister is a lay person authorized to administer the consecrated elements at a celebration of the Holy Eucharist. A eucharistic minister serves under the direction of a deacon or member of the clergy. Participants in this role must be licensed by the bishop.
Eucharistic Visitors
A eucharistic visitor is a lay person authorized to take the consecrated elements to members who were unable to attend worship. Once a service has concluded, eucharistic visitors are expected to deliver the consecrated elements in a timely manner. Eucharistic visitors serve under the direction of a deacon or member of the clergy.
Fellowship
One of the most enjoyable things about coming together on Sunday mornings is the time of fellowship after worship. We are always blessed with an assortment of snacks, cakes and other goodies to enjoy. If you can provide food or help with set-up and clean-up, please contact the office.
Flower Guild
Adorning the altar with beautiful flowers to enrich the worship experience is a special form of reverence. The Altar Flower Ministry creates distinctive floral displays for Sunday worship, feast days and other occasions. If you are interested in helping with ministry, contact Jane Perry. You may also dedicate the altar flowers on a specific date in honor or memory of a loved one, or to mark a special occasion. A sign-up sheet in available outside the sanctuary, or you may contact the office. A donation of $40 is suggested.
Music Ministry
If you love to sing, or if you play an instrument, we invite you to be part of our musical offering during worship. Our choirs are open to singers of all ages. Learn more about our diverse music ministry here.
Readers/Intercessors
Readers/intercessors help to illuminate the scriptures for our community by reading the lessons and leading the Prayers of the People during worship.
Tech Team
The tech team operates the cameras and audio system to deliver a livestream of our services to our online audience. The tech team also maintains the church’s hearing assist system.
Ushers & Greeters
Ushers and greeters offer a warm, friendly welcome at the door and provide service bulletins as worshippers arrive. During the service, ushers assist with seating, collect the offering and manage the flow of worshippers receiving communion. Afterward, ushers and greeters invite visitors to sign the guest book and join us for coffee and fellowship in the parish hall. Full details can be found on the usher responsibilities list.
